Minor Film Rant

I normally don't do these kinds of things, but something has been bugging me about watching films and reviewing them as of recently. I'm not a professional film reviewer, I mostly watch movies for fun and I generally don't make overextended reviews on something unless I am very deeply passionate about a film. But...sometimes it just gets on my nerves to see people talk about other film reviewers in a negative light for not "taking it too seriously" or only caring about the "memes" in a movie. I just recently watched the Sam Raimi Spider-man movies and I can't help, but not be super into these movies. Don't get me wrong they're fun to watch and fun to turn your brain off to, but sometimes the people who are die hard fans of these movies just irk me, similar to fans of Cars.
I love the three Raimi Spider-man movies, I'm very fond of them and grew up on them, but I'm not as closely attached to these movies as some other people are. There's a lot of sentiment in the film community that if you don't like X movie, Y movie, and Z movie then you aren't a true fan of the franchise. And...like hello that doesn't mean that someone can't be a fan of a film franchise or a certain movie. I would say I'm a Spider-man fan, even though I find Peter Parker to be a tad boring and a bit overrated sometimes, we've had three live action franchises and Spider-verse was the breath of fresh air that some of us needed to break from the mold of live action Spidey films. When I'm going into watching the Raimi films, I gain a new experience from watching them, it almost feels like I'm having a fever dream because these movies don't line up in my head. I might have bad memory of these films or something, but they just don't click with me as they used to. I like the first two movies don't get me wrong, but the third movie...not so much.
I've heard from several people that if you dislike the third Raimi Spider-man movie then you don't care about the legacy of Spider-man and you must hate Stan Lee. Which is very overdramatic to say, but these are just film opinions, I don't have to like the same movie that you do, vice versa. I'm not saying that these movies are bad, I still have an excellent time with them and I always notice something new each time. These movies are iconic to Spider-man media as a whole and have some of the most breathtaking scenes, Spider-man 3 has some of the most artistically driven shots in the franchise to be honest, which I omitted in my review for no reason. I don't hate these movies, I just don't have the same attachment that other people have and if you are one of those people who thinks that people just watch movies for the memes and you are the holy expert on movie opinions and then just contradict that by making a review that's just a meme...you're a hypocrite.

Also also the next blog post might be a more personal one on how I feel about being AFAB in the film community. I've been wanting to talk about the many problems that a lot of AFAB film fiends face when talking to other people online and in real life about movies and I have my own take on it too, so stay tuned I guess.
